The Glendronach was founded in 1826 by James Allardice and quickly became celebrated among London's aristocracy. The Glendronach Peated is the first smoky expression from the current ownership (Benriach Distillery Company) and deliberately returns to the distillery's original 1826 recipe—pairing lightly peated barley with the character of sherry in a way that feels integral rather than decorative.
Matured first in ex-bourbon casks, then finished in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry wood. This dual sherry finish brings richness and layering to a spirit that leans naturally toward sweetness. Non-chill-filtered and bottled at 46% ABV.
On the nose: treacle and honey mingle with light smoke and candied orange. The palate balances sweet sherry influence against peppery, earthy peat, with hints of caramel and spice. The finish is sweet and surprisingly smooth.
