Edradour was founded in 1837 by local farmers and takes its name from the Gaelic for 'between two rivers' — fitting for its location in Perthshire. In 2002, Andrew Symington purchased the distillery and undertook a complete restoration, realizing a lifelong dream. Though Edradour ranks among Scotland's smallest producers, it has cultivated a devoted following.
The 10 Years – Dark Sherry is Edradour's flagship expression. This particular batch matured in exceptionally active sherry casks, evident in its notably deep colour. The distillery's use of a worm tub condenser imparts characteristic oiliness and full body to the spirit.
On the nose, sherry influence dominates immediately: sweet toffee and fudge, complemented by almond and hazelnut. On the palate, the whisky feels fuller than its 40% ABV suggests — creamy and almost chewable, with dark chocolate, warming spices like pepper and clove, and subtle nutty wax. The finish builds with intensity, bringing vermouth-like notes that provide a satisfying close.
