The Dalmore was founded in 1839 by Alexander Matheson on the banks of the Cromarty Firth in the Scottish Highlands. The Quartet represents that heritage: a single malt matured across four distinct cask types, each sourced from renowned bodegas and wineries. The name speaks to this four-cask approach — a rare composition that marries refinement with experimentation.
The whisky matures first in first-fill ex-bourbon casks, then finishes in three classic sherry vessels: 30-year-old Matusalem and Apostoles casks from Bodegas González Byass, plus Bordeaux Cabernet Sauvignon casks. This marriage creates layering without the smoky intensity of island malts.
On the nose, toffee and hazelnut emerge, with subtle oak polish and raspberry notes. The palate delivers rich sherry character and juicy raisins, balanced and creamy. The finish is smooth and lingering, inviting another sip. A well-made drinker that rewards attention without demanding it.
