About
Hedonism was Compass Box's debut whisky in 2000—a deliberate statement that grain whisky deserved a platform when single malts dominated the conversation. It is a blended grain from multiple Scottish distilleries (Cameronbridge, Port Dundas, Carsebridge, and North British, varying by batch), each component at least ten years old. Compass Box's commitment to transparency—publishing recipes online—means Hedonism is not a mystery blend but a considered composition. Matured in American oak (ex-bourbon and charred casks), it develops vanilla and rich pastry-cream notes. Absence of chill-filtering preserves its full character. In the glass, Hedonism unfolds as soft and velvety. Tropical fruit—pineapple and papaya especially—mingles with honey and caramel. On the palate, vanilla fudge and toasted notes emerge, tempered by dry, heavily charred oak and a whisper of white pepper. The finish turns warm and spiced, with hints of milk chocolate. This is grain whisky without apology: sleek, flavourful, and equally at home neat or in a Rob Roy.
