Founded in 1814 on the shores of Scotland's largest loch, Loch Lomond Distillery built its reputation on versatility — producing quietly for blenders until the brand itself acquired an unexpected literary legacy. Captain Haddock, Tintin's beloved character, drank nothing but Loch Lomond whisky in Hergé's comic series. The author had simply invented the brand name for his fictional universe, years before it became real.
This 12-year-old single malt matured in three cask types: bourbon, refill, and freshly charred wood. Master Distiller Bill White married these three streams into a balanced whole, then bottled without chill-filtration to preserve the whisky's natural character.
The nose is immediately sweet and intense, with orchard fruit, honey, and subtle citrus threading through. Palate-led by barley and malt, it develops toasted nuts, a whisper of smoke, and a hint of candied spice. The finish warms gently, lingering with brown sugar and pepper — accessible at 46% ABV, yet with enough depth to reward attention.
