Aberfeldy takes its name from the Highland town where the distillery stands, founded by John Dewar, born in a nearby croft in 1805, who became a renowned spirits merchant before his descendants built the distillery in 1896 with architect Charles Cree Doig's signature pagoda roof. This 16-year-old expression is matured in bourbon and sherry casks, then finished in first-fill Oloroso sherry casks—a combination that defines its character: honey-forward, with dark fruit depth and a silky mouthfeel.
The nose brings honey, citrus, and clove spice alongside fruitcake notes. The palate opens with honey and toffee, transitions through citrus fruits and dark chocolate, and closes with a lingering, mouth-coating finish touched by oak and gentle spice.
This is an approachable Highland whisky that doesn't sacrifice depth for smoothness—bright enough to drink casually, structured enough to reward attention.
