Black Label, Pocket Scotch
Johnnie Walker Black Label traces back to 1820, when grocer John Walker in Kilmarnock noticed that whisky tasted different from barrel to barrel. Rather than accept this variation, he began blending whiskies to achieve consistency and depth — a practice that would define the brand for two centuries. The iconic Striding Man logo was later modeled after a real person: an accountant sketched by a cartoonist working for the company.
This Pocket Scotch edition delivers the same 12-year-old blend in a compact 200ml bottle. It's a marriage of single malt and grain whiskies sourced from across Scotland, each aged for at least 12 years — a rarity for blended Scotch. The extra maturation gives it depth and balance that most blends at this price point cannot match.
The whisky pours golden amber with heavy legs. On the nose: peaches and stone fruits, honeyed warmth, and a whisper of peat smoke. The palate unfolds with vanilla, sweet apple, and barley sugar, layered with Highland smoke and plum. White pepper and dry oak emerge gently on the finish, which lingers with fruity sweetness and a subtle herbal note.
