Green Label

1.5 out of 5 (1 review)

Johnnie Walker Green Label emerged in the 1990s as Pure Malt—an experiment that enthusiasts refused to let disappear. It remains the only blended malt in Johnnie Walker's core range, meaning every drop comes from four named single malts: Talisker from Skye, Cragganmore from Speyside, Linkwood also from Speyside, and Caol Ila from Islay. This selection spans Scotland's four corners, each distillery bringing its own signature.

Each malt is aged for a minimum of 15 years in oak before blending. This extended maturation delivers the depth and layering you'd expect from a single malt, without the constraint of a single distillery's profile.

The colour is bright gold. On the nose, mown grass and fresh fruit emerge first, underscored by soft peat smoke from the Islay component. The palate introduces honey and vanilla, gently joined by nutmeg and sandalwood notes. The finish is dry and persistent, with a subtle pepper that maintains equilibrium throughout.

This is blending as craft—not mass-market positioning, but a whisky that demonstrates what four distinct malts can achieve together.
