Bruichladdich Scottish Barley reflects Jim McEwan's philosophy of unadorned, ingredient-driven whisky. Crafted from 100% Scottish barley—sourced from mainland Scotland's Inverness-shire and Islay itself—it is trickle-distilled and matured entirely in American oak casks beside Loch Indaal. Unlike many Islay expressions, Scottish Barley contains no peat, allowing Bruichladdich to emphasize pure grain character and fruit-forward appeal.
The nose is fresh and honeyed, with orchard fruit and citrus developing into apple and floral notes; water brings the fruitiness into sharper relief. On the palate, vanilla and subtle oak lead, supported by peppery spice and malty backbone, finishing with citrus and heather-honey notes that linger.
