John Dewar founded his small wine and spirits merchant in Perth in 1846 and became a pioneer of Blended Scotch whisky. The Double Double Aged honours that legacy through an unconventional approach to aging. Rather than a single maturation, the malt and grain are aged separately, then married together in cask, aged again, and finally finished in ex-Oloroso sherry casks. This four-stage process allows the component whiskies to fuse and evolve multiple times, building complexity with each cycle.
At 21 years, this expression shows the rewards of that patience: a velvety mouthfeel with roasted notes, dried fruits and honeyed sweetness interwoven with cinnamon and subtle spice. Oak tannins provide gentle structure without harshness. Bottled at 46% ABV, the strength enhances rather than overwhelms—a whisky that feels assured and complete.
