Naarangi
Paul John was founded in 1992 by Paul P. John, who transitioned from alcohol distribution into distilling his own whisky. Brilliance is crafted from Indian six-row barley, double-distilled in copper pot stills, and matured in ex-bourbon casks—an approach shaped by Goa's tropical climate, where heat accelerates maturation in ways Scotch producers never experience.
The nose opens with citrus and vanilla cream, backed by pleasant oak. The palate delivers honeyed smoothness offset by tingling spice and dry pepper—the 'crispiness' Paul John himself emphasizes. The finish is long and woody, with lingering orange and American oak.
Brilliance proves Indian single malt is no regional novelty but a distinct expression shaped by its own terroir. Warmer, more direct, and brighter than its Scottish counterparts, this whisky earns its name.
