Strathisla is Scotland's oldest continuously operating distillery, founded in 1786 as Milltown. This 2008 vintage matured for ten years and was bottled at 46% ABV, offering approachable strength without cask-strength harshness.
Sherry cask maturation shapes the whisky's character distinctly. The nose carries dried fruit, red grape, and sweet notes, with oak and spice emerging from a decade in wood. The palate shows the interplay between sherried sweetness and malty foundation, developing complexity as it opens.
On the finish, drying oak and vanilla emerge, accompanied by subtle wood spice that gradually fades. This is a measured, well-integrated expression that reflects both the distillery's character and the patient influence of time in cask.
