Bowmore has been Islay's oldest distillery since 1779, founded by David Simpson on the shores of Loch Indaal. That location has shaped its character ever since: the water, local barley, and proximity to the sea define what Bowmore whisky is. The 18-year expression shows what maturation in ex-bourbon and Oloroso casks can deliver.
Warm mahogany in the glass. The nose balances smoke with age: gentle peat, tropical fruit, brown sugar, and coffee notes. The palate is smokier than the nose suggests, revealing dark chocolate, dried fruit, and a hint of brine. The finish is long and rounded, with lingering smoke and toffee.
This is Islay whisky for those seeking depth and refinement alongside smoke. At 43% ABV, it remains approachable without compromising character.
