The Arran Sherry Cask, known as The Bodega, reflects a deliberate partnership between the distillery and some of Jerez's most prestigious sherry producers. The Master Distiller carefully selected first-fill sherry hogsheads for seven years of maturation, lending maturity to this youthful Arran spirit while preserving its characteristic freshness and fruit-forward character.
The nose reveals dark dried fruits—raisins, dates, plums—balanced by a crisp citrus lift and notes of honey and caramel. A drop of water coaxes vanilla and crème brûlée to the surface. On the palate, a full, oily texture unfolds with darker stone fruits (prunes, blackcurrant) alongside lighter, brighter notes of peach and mango. The cask strength ABV of 55.8% delivers presence without aggression; crystallized ginger and hazelnut add complexity and warmth.
The finish turns dry and spiced, with honey, oak, and ginger gradually fading. This is not a heavyweight sherry bomb—rather, a measured interplay between Arran's grassy, malty spirit and the depth of well-used sherry wood. A whisky that rewards both immediate enjoyment and patient nosing.
