Founded in 1826 by James Allardice in the Valley of Forgue, Glendronach endured fire, bankruptcy, and decades of neglect before its revival in 2002. This 12 Year Old embodies that renaissance: a whisky shaped by maturation in Oloroso and Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, which bestow its deep colour and full-bodied character.
The cask selection—predominantly Oloroso with a Pedro Ximénez component—creates a warm, layered spirit without heaviness. Bottled at 43% ABV, it remains approachable while retaining its distinctive personality.
On the nose, clove-studded orange mingles with ginger, chocolate, and malty warmth. The palate delivers Christmas cake spice, oak structure, and a gentle boozy tingle that carries into a medium finish of hazelnut, toffee, and lingering spice.
