William Grant founded Glenfiddich in 1886, building the distillery by hand with the help of his seven sons and two daughters. The name means 'valley of the deer' in Gaelic—reflected in the stag on the label. In the 1960s, Glenfiddich pioneered the global single malt market at a time when blended whisky dominated.
The 18-year-old is a small batch expression, assembled from no more than 150 casks aged for 18 years in bourbon and sherry wood. Master Distiller Brian Kinsman carefully selects these casks, balancing the character of both cask types into a rounded whole.
On the nose: ripe fruit—red grapes and citrus—alongside toffee and oak. The palate shows sweet malt and vanilla from the bourbon, with a gentle spice edge from the sherry maturation. Medium-bodied and not overly oily, it closes with notes of nuts and wood, finishing clean without heaviness.
