Chivas Regal began in 1801 as a modest grocery store in Aberdeen, founded by two Scottish brothers with no inheritance or famous name. In 1850, John and James Chivas began blending whisky—a craft that would grow into the world's first luxury Scotch. The 12-year expression launched in 1909 and remains a classic entry point to blended whisky.
This blend combines malt and grain whiskies in a formula guarded as a closely held secret by Chivas Brothers. The result is a whisky that feels accessible without being shallow—enough complexity to stay interesting, without the sharp edges of single malts.
On the nose, honey and ripe apple emerge, accompanied by subtle vanilla and a hint of heather. On the palate, a creamy, balanced character unfolds: soft smoke, vanilla, honey, and hazelnut, with flashes of butterscotch and citrus. The finish is gentle and brief—no drama, but no shortcomings either.
