Nikka Days carries the legacy of Masataka Taketsuru, who studied whisky-making in Scotland and founded Nikka in 1934 with a mission to craft authentic whisky for Japan. This blend draws from both of Nikka's core distilleries—Yoichi and Miyagikyo—combining carefully selected malt and grain whiskies aged 8–10 years, chosen from stock that would otherwise feed Nikka's single-malt and Coffey grain bottlings.
On the nose: light, bright fruit—pear, apple, lemon—joined by delicate floral notes and hints of vanilla. The palate reveals a silky, almost oily mouthfeel with honey-led sweetness, subtle malt, baking spices, and a whisper of smoke. The finish is clean and fresh, with cereal and fruit lingering gently.
Days is positioned as an everyday dram, yet it avoids simplicity. Bottled at 40% ABV, it prioritises balance and approachability over power, making it an ideal entry point to Japanese whisky's restrained style—or a reliable companion for those who prefer finesse to intensity.
