Port Ruighe takes its name from Portree, the capital of Skye, known in Scottish Gaelic as Port Ruighe. Talisker chose this name to honour the island's heritage and to spotlight the maritime character that defines the distillery.
This single malt is matured in American and European oak refill casks before finishing in specially conditioned ruby port casks. The combination marries Talisker's signature briny, smoky profile with the rich, berry-driven sweetness that port finishing brings.
On the nose, smoke and sweetness sit in easy balance—briny notes, toffee, and red fruit (strawberry, raspberry) emerge alongside milk chocolate and mineral undertones. The palate reveals Talisker's trademark peppery brine, layered with sticky jam-like fruit and cocoa. The finish lingers long and dry, with creamy smoke giving way to peaty, dark-fruit notes that echo the port's influence without overwhelming the distillery's core identity.

Just great! Warm 'sticky' red fruit from a fish harbor that has been stored in oak casks kept next to the eel smokery. Delicious!
