About
The Balvenie 12 Year Old DoubleWood is a distinguished single malt whisky hailing from the Speyside region of Scotland. It gets its name from the unique maturation process involving two types of casks: a traditional oak whisky cask and a first-fill European oak sherry cask. This dual-cask method imparts a delightful balance of character and depth, allowing the whisky to develop beautifully over its twelve-year aging period. Upon nosing, you'll encounter smooth aromas of honey, oranges, and vanilla, with hints of peach. The palate is rich and layered, featuring sweet and nutty flavors of hazelnuts and pecans, complemented by honey and a hint of cinnamon. The finish is long and warming, with notes of dried fruit and subtle maritime influences that gently emerge. This whisky pairs wonderfully with an evening by the fireplace, possibly accompanied by decadent desserts like chocolate fondant or a cheese platter with nuts and dried fruits.
