Dewar's The Ancestor

Connois 1993
Knockdhu Distillery opened in 1894 under the vision of John Morrison, who recognized the potential of local barley and peat in Banffshire. For nearly a century the distillery sold whisky under its own name, until Inver House Distillers rebranded the single malt as AnCnoc in the 1990s—a deliberate move to carve out a distinct identity. The name refers to the hill on which the distillery stands.
This 18-year-old expression has matured in American oak casks, deepening AnCnoc's characteristic Speyside profile. At 46% ABV, it delivers a full, non-chill-filtered experience without the harshness of cask strength.
The nose reveals honey, sweet apple, and vanilla, with gentle undertones of ginger and nutmeg. The palate is richer than the nose suggests—malty and warming, with understated complexity. The finish persists without overstaying, a lingering warmth that fades gradually.
