Talisker was established in 1830 by brothers Hugh and Kenneth MacAskill on the Isle of Skye, named after their family estate. The distillery has remained one of Scotland's most characterful producers since its founding. Talisker Skye was introduced several years ago as a tribute to the distillery's home island, offering a more accessible entry point to Talisker's signature style than its older siblings.
This bottling is matured in carefully selected American oak casks, some freshly charred. Bottled at 48.8% ABV, it delivers the full distillery signature without dilution.
The nose reveals smoky sweetness with maritime and spicy notes. The palate shows dry oak, citrus fruit, and fresh apple, with an underlying peat character that leans woody and ashy rather than medicinal. The finish is long and warming, with echoes of charred wood and a bracing edge.
This gift presentation, complete with an original Talisker hip flask, makes for an engaging introduction to the rugged spirit of Skye.
