Very Rare 2019

Midleton Very Rare was established in 1984 by Master Distiller Barry Crockett, who envisioned an annual release that would showcase Irish whiskey at its finest. Crockett compared whiskey-making to conducting an orchestra—each year required finding the perfect composition from Midleton's finest casks. This tradition of careful selection and craftsmanship—every cask hand-picked—has made the series Ireland's benchmark for premium whiskey.

The 2019 edition is a blend of pot still and grain whiskeys, matured exclusively in lightly charred American oak ex-bourbon casks. This choice of American oak provides flexibility in cask selection and underpins the consistency Very Rare is known for.

On the palate, a silky, creamy texture unfolds with orchard fruit—apricot, peach, and green apple—followed by subtle spice notes of cinnamon and liquorice. The finish lingers warmly, with hints of gingerbread and salted caramel. This is a whiskey that rewards patient sipping and reflection.
