Malt & Grain
Winter Reserve
Famous Grouse was founded in 1896 by Matthew Gloag, a Perth wine merchant intent on crafting an exceptional blended Scotch. What began as an ambition in a small shop became Scotland's best-selling whisky — a position it has held for over four decades. The Winter Reserve is a seasonal expression that showcases the brand's blending philosophy: a mix of malts and grains from the Lowlands, Highlands, Speyside, and Islands, matured in sherry-seasoned Spanish oak and port-cask-finished wood.
The combination of sherry and port casks delivers the blend's signature character: toffee and caramel form the backbone, supported by dried fruits and vanilla. The nose reveals cinnamon and toasted oak, with hints of banana cake. The palate is sweet and spiced, with a medium body that mellows quickly into shortbread and warm spice — a winter warmer without fuss.
This is an approachable, well-balanced blend designed for easy drinking rather than contemplation.
