Casg Annamh translates to 'rare cask' in Gaelic — a name reflecting Aberlour's intent to step beyond the standard lineup. This is a non-age-statement, small-batch release matured across three cask types: ex-sherry casks of European oak alongside two varieties of American oak. The result is deliberately different from Aberlour's flagship A'Bunadh, with more textural interest and less sherry dominance.
The nose opens with herbal spice and malty depth, underpinned by a peppery bite. The palate unfolds in layers: dried fruits, vanilla, and honey form the sweet core, while ginger and dried spices add peppery grip. The finish remains focused, with vanilla and pepper fading cleanly.
This is a whisky for those who value Speyside's fruit-forward character without the weight of sherried intensity. Each batch carries subtle variation — this is Batch 7, each with its own signature.
