Glen Scotia was founded in 1832 as Scotia Distillery by Stewart, Galbraith & Co., and this bottling honours both that founding year and Campbeltown's storied past as the world's whisky capital. The 1832 stands apart from the distillery's typical output through a notably higher peat content — a deliberate choice that gives the spirit a smokier character.
Matured in American oak and finished in Pedro Ximénez sherry casks, the whisky balances sweet and savoury in unexpected ways. The sherry finish brings richness and depth without overwhelming the underlying spirit.
On the nose, it presents sharp, smoky edges with maritime saltiness. The palate follows through with that smoke, but the real reward is the finish: long, smooth and addictive, with fruit and gentle oak notes that linger. This is not a whisky that impresses on first sip; it reveals itself gradually, rewarding patience and a second glass.
