1990 Blowing on a Sea Breeze

1997 / 2013 Distillers Edition
Glenmorangie's famously tall stills—the highest in Scotland—craft a distinctly soft and fruity spirit. The Quinta Ruban (Gaelic for 'ruby'), part of the distillery's Extra Matured Range, marries two cask journeys: ten years in bourbon wood followed by four years finishing in Portuguese port casks.
This pairing deepens the spirit without drowning it. The port finish introduces dark, wine-forward character—cherry, chocolate, toffee notes—while the bourbon base preserves the distillery's signature sweetness and vanilla. The result is rich and layered, not heavy.
On the palate, it opens sweet and fruity, building toward earthy undertones and lingering chocolate. The finish is moderate to long, evolving with each sip—sour cherry, candied pecans, a touch of spice and oak. At 46% ABV, the whisky carries enough weight to reveal its complexity without aggression. A dessert-style dram with genuine depth.
