Cù Bòcan Creation #8: A Groundbreaking Peated Innovation

Tomatin Distillery's Cù Bòcan Creation #8 represents a historic first: the inaugural peated Scotch whisky matured in Canadian ice wine and Spanish Verdejo casks. This limited edition Highland single malt pushes boundaries with an experimental dual-cask approach inspired by the lightly-peated spirits historically produced at Tomatin over a century ago. Created during the distillery's cold winter months, this release marks the oldest expression in the Creations series to date.

The whisky masterfully blends two distinct cask influences. An 18-year-old spirit from rare Canadian ice wine casks sourced from family-owned Pillitteri winery delivers notes of apricot jam, candied peach and pineapple syrup, while a 16-year-old spirit from Spanish Verdejo casks (Belondrade winery) contributes vibrant citrus, herbal and grassy dimensions. Bottled at 46% ABV, natural in colour and non-chill filtered, Creation #8 showcases the interplay of these cask types beautifully.

The nose reveals dried fruit, tropical notes, honey and oak spice. On the palate, citrus and tropical fruit emerge alongside caramel, oak and smoky undertones. The finish lingers with citrus, oak and peppery smoke.
