Nikka Whisky unveils the first expression in its new Taketsuru Essentials Series, honoring Masataka Taketsuru, the Father of Japanese Whisky. This limited-edition series comprises five expressions inspired by Nikka's traditional distilling heritage and the legacy of the Taketsuru Pure Malt range from the 2000s.

The inaugural release is a Hokkaido single malt from the Yoichi Distillery—Nikka's birthplace. This distillery is celebrated for its traditional coal-fired distillation, a technique Taketsuru brought back from his Scottish training. The result is a full-bodied, harmonious whisky with distinctive character depth.

The nose reveals subtle aromas of mature casks with balanced malt harmony. On the palate, a full body emerges with malt sweetness and subtle peaty savory depth. The finish lingers pleasantly with toffee, honey, and peppery notes, followed by an elegant aftertaste.
