Killowen Ériu: Where Mythology Meets Poitín

Ériu is the latest poitín release from Killowen Distillery, honouring the Irish goddess Ériu from Irish mythology. This release is particularly special as it marks the first mashbill where Patrick, the distillery's master, had complete creative control. With only 150 bottles available, this exclusive release launches on Tuesday 26th May 2026.

The mashbill comprises 30% oats, 30% rye, and 40% heavily peated malt, creating a complex and distinctive base. The spirit was then rested for 3 weeks in Killowen rum casks, imparting rich molasses sweetness, soft fruit notes, and gentle warmth. Bottled at a bold 55% ABV, this is an audacious and authentic poitín, crafted using Killowen's traditional method of slow distillation with direct flame-fired stills.

On the nose, expect dried fruit, honey, and smoky malt with peppery spice. The palate delivers caramel, malt, dried spices, smoke, and red berries. The finish lingers with caramel, honey, and peppery smoke.

This release is essential for poitín enthusiasts and collectors seeking authentic, artisanal Irish spirits with real character and provenance.
