Bunnahabhain 50 Year Old 1975 – A Legendary Coastal Whisky Release

Signatory Vintage presents an exceptionally rare 50-year-old Bunnahabhain from 1975, released in January 2025 as part of their 'Coastal Edition'. This vintage is particularly significant for Islay's most characterful coastal distillery, with only a handful of casks remaining from this era. This is a whisky for collectors and enthusiasts of aged, complex expressions.

This single malt was matured in an Oloroso sherry butt and bottled at 43.1% ABV. The combination of five decades of aging in sherry wood with Bunnahabhain's distinctive coastal character creates a profile rarely encountered on the market. With just 672 bottles from batch #3, this is an exceptionally limited release.

The nose presents eucalyptus and pine forest with dried apricots, supported by subtle coastal notes and marzipan. The palate reveals woody character alongside mint, dried herbs, and a distinctive hoppy note typical of very old Bunnahabhain. The texture is somewhat thin but balanced by vanilla and dried fruits. The finish is medium length with tobacco and salty notes.
