Lagavulin's 13-year-old expression is a limited edition single malt released for the 2021 Fèis Ìle festival on Islay. This distinctive whisky showcases the distillery's signature smoky character balanced with refined complexity, achieved through a finishing period in port-seasoned American oak casks. At 56.1% ABV, it delivers a full and intensely flavourful profile. The nose is rich and vibrant, revealing sweet minerality, soft peat smoke, and nutty undertones alongside hints of gunpowder and coal tar. On the palate, initial sweetness with notes of sugar and spice gives way to a wave of damp peat smoke and burning leaves, with earthy char building underneath. The finish is long and layered, with persistent smoke and a warm, complex fade that reflects the thoughtful cask finishing strategy.
