The Old Malt Cask is one of the most established and respected independent bottling labels in the Scotch whisky world. Launched in 1998 by Douglas Laing & Co., the series was created by the Laing brothers and was an immediate commercial and critical success. It drew upon the extensive cask stocks built up by Fred Laing Sr., allowing the label to release some truly exceptional whiskies from the very start. Following the split of the Laing brothers, the Old Malt Cask brand passed to Hunter Laing & Co., where it continues to be bottled today. The Old Malt Cask range comprises approximately 130 single cask bottlings, each presented at 50% ABV without chill-filtering, preserving the natural character of each individual cask. The portfolio spans a wide variety of Scottish distilleries, from peaty Islay malts to fruity Speysiders, offering collectors and enthusiasts an ever-changing selection of rare single malts. At the top of the range sits the Platinum series, featuring around 20 of the most prized casks in the collection. Over the years, The Old Malt Cask has earned an outstanding reputation for releasing legendary bottlings, including iconic expressions such as the Ardbeg 1967 32 Year Old. With its consistent quality, transparent presentation, and remarkable breadth of distillery coverage, The Old Malt Cask remains a benchmark label in the world of independent Scotch whisky bottling.
