Ledaig 1996 is a limited edition vintage single malt Scotch whisky produced at Tobermory Distillery, the only Scotch whisky distillery on the Hebridean island of Mull, Scotland. Founded in 1798 and formerly known as Ledaig, Tobermory Distillery has a rich history as one of Scotland's most enduring island distilleries. The Ledaig 1996 expression holds special significance as it originates from the first year in which heavily peated malt whisky was produced at the distillery. Released as a 20 Year Old with an ABV of 46.3%, Ledaig 1996 was finished in sherry casks, adding layers of complexity to its bold, smoky character. The whisky is widely regarded as a "peat bomb," delivering intense smoky notes from the first sniff through to a long, lingering finish. It was also bottled in refill American hogshead expressions, showcasing the versatility of this remarkable vintage. The Ledaig 1996 has garnered significant acclaim among whisky enthusiasts and critics alike. Featured in prestigious publications such as the Robb Report's list of best whiskies, this limited edition release is celebrated for its powerful peated profile and its place as a landmark expression in the Ledaig lineage.
