iPhone / iPad (iOS)

Requirements

iOS 16.4 or higher for push notifications. Use Safari (not Chrome or Firefox). Add to home screen first before enabling push notifications.

Open WhiskyCircle in SafariGo to whiskycircle.app in Safari. Note: Chrome and Firefox do not work for PWA installation on iOS.

Push notifications on iOS are experimental

Apple has only supported push for web apps since iOS 16.4 and there are limitations. Notifications only work if the app has been added to your home screen.

Common mistakes on iOS:

  • Opening in Chrome or Firefox – use Safari
  • Enabling push before adding to home screen – doesn't work
  • iOS version older than 16.4 – no push support

Android

Full support

Android fully supports push notifications. Use Chrome for the best experience.

Open WhiskyCircle in ChromeGo to whiskycircle.app in the Chrome browser.

Wait for the install prompt or open the menuChrome often automatically shows a banner. Otherwise tap the menu icon (three dots) in the top right.

Choose "Install" or "Install app"Confirm the installation when prompted.

Allow push notificationsWhen prompted, or enable them via your profile settings.
Battery optimisation

If notifications don't arrive, check your Android settings for battery saving and add WhiskyCircle to the exception list.

Setting up push notifications

With push notifications you'll never miss a response, invitation or update. Here's how to set them up:

Install the app firstPush notifications work best when WhiskyCircle is installed as an app on your home screen.

Allow notificationsOn your first visit, the app asks for permission. Click "Allow".

Adjust your preferencesGo to your profile → Settings to choose which notifications you want to receive.

Notifications not arriving on Android? Go to Settings → Apps → WhiskyCircle and make sure notifications are turned on. Also check if battery saving is blocking the app.

iOS users

On iPhone/iPad, push notifications only work if you have installed the app via "Add to Home Screen" and are using iOS 16.4 or higher. Open Safari → Share icon → Add to Home Screen.
