Lochgilphead

Lochgilphead Distillery, founded in 1816 by Donald Cameron, is situated in the heart of the Highland region of Scotland. Established during a time when the whisky industry was gaining momentum, the distillery was part of a burgeoning local economy. Unfortunately, Lochgilphead ceased operations in 1853, but its legacy remains an integral part of Scotland's whisky history. Although the distillery is no longer operational, its production methods were typical of the era, utilizing traditional pot stills for distillation. The whisky produced at Lochgilphead was noted for its rich, complex profile, often featuring notes of malt and subtle hints of fruit, characteristic of Highland whiskies. The distillery's closure has left a gap in the local heritage, and its historical significance continues to be remembered by whisky enthusiasts and historians alike.
