Hopewill Distillery was established in 1798 in the Highland region of Scotland by Capt. David Brodie. Despite its historic roots, the distillery did not operate for long, as it was closed the same year it was founded. The brief existence of Hopewill is a reminder of the numerous small distilleries that emerged during the whisky boom of the late 18th century, many of which faced challenges that ultimately led to their closure. Due to its short operational period, little is known about the production methods and equipment used at Hopewill. However, it is likely that the distillery employed traditional techniques characteristic of the region during that time, including pot still distillation. Unfortunately, no notable expressions have survived to offer insight into the distillery's output, leaving a gap in the history of Scottish whisky.
