Glen Mhor

Glen Mhor is situated in the Highlands of Scotland and was founded in 1892. It was established by the Elgin-based firm of distillers, which became part of the Distillers Company Limited, the current owner. Although Glen Mhor operated for over a century, it was ultimately closed, becoming one of the lost distilleries of the region. Its historical significance lies in its contribution to the whisky landscape, particularly in the late 20th century. The distillery had a modest production capacity and utilized traditional whisky-making equipment, which contributed to its distinctive character. Glen Mhor was known for its sweet, herbal profile, often featuring notes of vanilla and sherry on the nose. The palate revealed a complex interplay of fruit, mint, and malt, complemented by a spicy oak finish. Notable expressions include Glen Mhor - 1980 and Glen Mhor 34 Years - 1966, among others, showcasing a range of ages from 23 to 34 years. While official bottlings are scarce, independent releases remain available, reflecting the distillery's legacy in the whisky community.
