Kavalan was founded in 2005 by Tien-Tsai Lee, head of the family-owned King Car Group, to prove that world-class whisky could be made in Taiwan. The distillery sits in Yilan, on land once inhabited by the indigenous Kavalan people. Taiwan's warm, humid climate dramatically accelerates maturation — what takes a decade in Scotland happens here in a few years. The Podium embodies this principle: young in age, mature in character.

This single malt matures in American virgin oak and refill casks — a pairing that does far more than simply add wood influence. Virgin oak contributes vanilla and tropical fruit; refill casks preserve subtlety and balance. The result is a whisky that feels both forceful and refined — not brute power, but focused complexity.
