Tobermory Distillery, founded in 1798 on the Isle of Mull, has built its reputation on resilience and craft. This 8-year-old single malt is bottled at cask strength (55% ABV), delivering an unfiltered, full expression of the distillery's character. The nose opens with fruity notes—green apple and honeysuckle—followed by malty undertones and creamy vanilla with light oak. On the palate, an oily, viscous texture carries caramel and oak, with stone fruit emerging alongside. The finish is complex and spicy, with a lingering bitterness tempered by a hint of unrealized sweetness. This is a dram for those who appreciate bold, unapologetic flavour. At cask strength, a few drops of water will open it up considerably, smoothing the edges while preserving the depth.
