Kalkwijck Distillers marks its fifteenth anniversary with a whisky rooted in the distillery's heritage. This is not an import but a Dutch product from a family business that has occupied the same Vroomshoop estate since 1803 — the Benus family has been brewing and distilling here for generations. The Eastmoor 15th Anniversary Special is made from barley grown on their own fields, a choice that embodies their 'single estate' philosophy. The whisky has matured for eight years in American oak and Oloroso sherry casks, a pairing that balances softness with complexity. The combination of wood types delivers the spirit's character: vanilla and caramel from the American oak, richness and depth from the sherry. On the nose, fruity notes emerge — raisins, hints of peat smoke, and malty grain. The palate is full and silky, with warm honey, spiced biscuit, and a subtle smoky finish. This is a whisky with mature composure — not aggressive, but assured.
