The Macallan Cherrywood Lapsang Tea Harmony Collection

The Macallan unveils a new addition to the Harmony Collection: a single malt inspired by organic Cherrywood Lapsang tea. Released in summer 2025 as part of a collaboration with JING Tea, this expression brings an oriental twist to the classic Speyside single malt tradition.

This 44.9% ABV whisky combines European oak sherry-seasoned casks with American oak casks, creating a sophisticated and wood-driven profile. On the nose, heavily toasted oak dominates with sandalwood, incense, and tea-like aromatics, complemented by dark fruits, citrus, and tobacco leaf notes. The overall impression is aromatic and oriental rather than smoky.

On the palate, toasted wood continues alongside flamed orange peel, tea leaves, and dark chocolate. Black pepper, clove oil, and hints of liquorice add complexity, with preserved cherries and red plums lingering in the background. The finish is medium, balancing sourish berries, dark brewed tea, and charred oak. This is a well-crafted official Macallan release that showcases technical excellence, though it remains a travel retail exclusive—making it a worthwhile addition for collectors seeking something beyond the standard lineup.
