Located in the Highland region of Scotland, Glenugie Distillery was founded in 1831 and operated until its closure in 1983. Originally established by a group of local entrepreneurs, the distillery was known for its unique character and was part of the Glenugie-Glenlivet Distillery Company. Although it has been closed for decades, Glenugie is remembered as a significant contributor to the whisky landscape of the Highlands. Glenugie had a production capacity that allowed for a range of expressions, primarily single malts aged between 16 and 32 years. The distillery utilized traditional pot stills and maintained a focus on quality, which is reflected in its flavour profile characterized by herbs, sweetness, sherry notes, heather, and vanilla. Notable bottlings include Glenugie 1967 and Glenugie 22 Years, both of which showcase the distillery's rich heritage and complexity, making them sought-after by collectors and enthusiasts alike.
