Portmagee Whiskey is an Irish whiskey brand founded in 2017, deeply rooted in the heritage of Portmagee, a small coastal village in County Kerry on Ireland's rugged southwest coast. The brand honours the original Seine Boat Fishing Families of Portmagee's harbour, drawing on a rich maritime and local history as its inspiration. An ambitious grain-to-glass vision lies at the heart of the project: the founders are restoring a historic family site on Barrack Hill — including the former RIC barracks — into a full distillery and visitor centre known as the Portmagee Domes, operated under the Portmagee Distilling and Brewing Company Ltd. While the distillery is still taking shape, Portmagee has been building its whiskey portfolio in the meantime. Its expressions are characterised by approachable, flavour-forward profiles — the core bottling at 40% ABV offers notes of candied lemon, creamy vanilla, ground cumin and tangerine, making it an accessible and vibrant Irish whiskey. The brand is led by CEO and co-founder John Murphy, who brings both engineering expertise and a passion for Irish whiskey to the project, with additional guidance from experienced industry consultants.
