Morris Whisky is an Australian single malt whisky brand rooted in a remarkable heritage that stretches back to 1859, when George Francis Morris established a small vineyard and winery near Rutherglen in northeastern Victoria. The whisky chapter began in 2016 when Casella Family Brands, which had acquired Morris Wines, formed the subsidiary Copper & Grain Distilling Co. to bring a distilling vision to life at the historic Rutherglen estate. Morris Whisky is crafted using 100% Australian premium malted barley and matured in wine barrels sourced from Barossa and Coonawarra â two of Australia's most celebrated wine regions. This approach gives the whisky a distinctly regional Victorian character, marrying the estate's deep winemaking expertise with the emerging art of Australian single malt production. The first distillations took place in 2016, with full-scale production following shortly thereafter under the guidance of head distiller Andrew Peck. Morris has quickly established itself as one of Australia's premier single malt producers, earning recognition as a pioneering force in the country's growing whisky industry.
