Millburn was one of the oldest distilleries in Inverness, Scotland, with roots tracing back to 1807, making it a foundational part of the Scottish Highland whisky tradition. Originally operating under a different name, the distillery was renamed Millburn in 1904. Over the course of its history, it passed through several owners, including Booth's Distillery Limited, which acquired it in 1921 and undertook significant rebuilding work the following year. Millburn holds the distinction of being the oldest and longest-running of Inverness's distilleries before its eventual closure in 1985. Millburn was known for producing a bold and slightly smoky Highland single malt, characterised by notes of tropical fruit alongside its distinctive smokiness. Despite its long operational history, the distillery released very little whisky under its own label as a single malt, making genuine Millburn bottlings exceptionally rare. Much of what is available today comes from independent bottlers such as Gordon & MacPhail, whose Connoisseurs Choice series has preserved expressions distilled as far back as 1972. Due to its closed status and the scarcity of remaining stock, Millburn has become a sought-after name among collectors and enthusiasts of rare Scotch whisky. Bottles have been selected by legendary independent bottlers, including the renowned Italian bottler Samaroli, further cementing Millburn's reputation as a hidden gem of the Highland whisky world. The former distillery site in Inverness now operates as a hotel.
