Lord Elcho is a premium blended Scotch whisky created by Wemyss Malts, a Scottish independent bottler and producer with strong family heritage. The whisky takes its name from a Wemyss family ancestor, Lord Elcho, a Jacobite supporter who was stripped of his title following his involvement in the Jacobite cause. Originally launched in 2012 as a 15-year-old blended Scotch, the expression was created to honour what the family describes as the 'refined masculine spirit of its namesake'. Lord Elcho is crafted from a carefully chosen selection of the finest malt and grain whiskies, with a notably high malt content of at least 40%. The blend places particular emphasis on sherry cask maturation, resulting in a warm, smooth and rich character that showcases the blending skills and craftsmanship of the Wemyss Malts team. Bottled at 40% ABV, the whisky is also produced in a standard non-age-statement expression alongside the original 15-year-old bottling, making it accessible to a wide range of Scotch whisky enthusiasts.
