Speyside, Scotland · Founded in 1897
Speyburn Distillery was founded in 1897 by brothers John and Edward Hopkins, through their company John Hopkins & Co., nestled in the heart of Speyside, Scotland. The distillery's opening coincided with Queen Victoria's Diamond Jubilee, her 60th year on the throne — a fitting beginning for a distillery that would go on to become one of Speyside's most enduring names. After changing hands over the years, including a period under DCL from 1916 and two stints of mothballing between 1930–1934, Speyburn has continued to build its legacy as a crafted single malt producer. Speyburn is celebrated for its approachable yet refined flavour profile, drawing on the natural resources of the Speyside region that its founder first harnessed over a century ago. The core portfolio includes expressions such as the Bradan Orach, the 15 Year Old, and the rich 18 Year Old — matured in hand-selected American and Spanish oak casks, offering a dark golden colour and distinctive depth. More recently, Speyburn has expanded its range with innovative finishes, including a Rum Cask Finish, marking a first for the brand and showcasing its willingness to evolve. In 2023, Speyburn celebrated its 125th anniversary, cementing its reputation as an iconic Speyside distillery. With a recently refreshed brand identity and a growing portfolio, Speyburn continues to honour its heritage while embracing new directions in Scotch whisky craftsmanship.
