Raasay is a Scottish whisky brand born from the Isle of Raasay Distillery, established in 2017 as the first legal distillery on this small Hebridean island off the west coast of Scotland. Founded by R&B Distillers (Raasay & Borders Distillers), the project brought legal whisky production to Raasay for the first time in the island's history, marking a significant milestone for Scottish whisky heritage. The distillery's flagship expression, the Isle of Raasay Single Malt Scotch Whisky, was launched in 2020 and is complemented by a range of limited special and single cask releases. The portfolio includes both peated and unpeated expressions, with the first major unpeated release bottled at 50.7% ABV showcasing a spirit aged five years — at the time the oldest Raasay whisky released. A "While We Wait" collection of new make and maturing spirits also helped build anticipation during the years leading up to the core single malt launch. Raasay's reputation has grown rapidly on the international stage. The Raasay Cask Strength Single Malt was awarded a Platinum medal and named Best Single Malt Scotch Whisky at the 2025 Las Vegas Global Spirit Awards — a remarkable achievement for a relatively young distillery. R&B Distillers has further ambitious plans, including the development of a second distillery, Machrihanish, in Campbeltown.
