Port Dundas

Port Dundas is one of Scotland's most storied grain distilleries, established in 1811 in Glasgow. Located in the Lowland region, it rose to become the largest distillery in Scotland, serving as the beating heart of the country's blending industry. The distillery survived two World Wars and two fires before eventually closing in 2010, just short of its 200th anniversary, cementing its place among Scotland's most celebrated ghost distilleries. As a Lowland single grain whisky producer, Port Dundas was instrumental in supplying grain spirit to many of Scotland's most iconic blended Scotch whiskies. The adjacent Dundashill Cooperage, dating back to 1770, manufactured hogshead casks and was owned by Diageo at the time of closure. The distillery was one of the founding companies within the Distillers Company Limited, a precursor to Diageo, the world's largest spirits producer today. Port Dundas has gained renewed recognition through its inclusion in Johnnie Walker's prestigious Blue Label Ghost and Rare series, with a limited edition release celebrating this famous Glasgow distillery. Independent bottlers such as Signatory Vintage continue to release rare expressions, making Port Dundas casks highly sought after by collectors and investors alike.
